IT HAS BEGUN!!!! i am an official, performing band member with Chains Required! I can't believe it. Phew! now that i'm in the swing of it - i am MUCH less nervous... but there were a few weeks of REALLY sleepless nights before my first show. although i must say this- it went WAY better than expected, and it keeps going well! so i thought it was finally time to update you :D
our first gig of the year was at Black Oak Casino on february 24. it was a BLASTY BLAST, omg. never have i felt such incredible energy on stage. i was literally jumping up and down, "kris kross'll make ya jump! jump!" style. NO JOKE. i was JUMPING UP AND DOWN.... like... a lot. like, every song ;D
it was just SO fun and emotional and energetic!
my INCREDIBLE friends came to support us, and i felt so loved... it was magical <3
we didn't start performing until 9! so we had a lot of time to kill after sound check at 6. we went over to the buffet and had a great meal on the house, which was a LOVELY surprise. i would have passed out for sure without this huge salad <3 that's steve in the vest in the back... he's my guitar hero and fellow veggie in the band :D :D :D :D he is one of the sweetest men i've ever met in my whole life, and he is so talented - it almost makes me cry.
after our awesome dinner (where we all ate so much we needed NAPS) - it was time to get ready... and this is casie!!!!!!!!!! my fellow singer <3 her voice is insanely intimidating... but it is SO much fun to sing with her - i can hardly care about how much better than me she is! lol!
yay for girls who wear glasses!
here's an awesome shot leilani got of the whole band... it looks so epic! AND IT WAS! :D
here's another pic from leilani... i have no clue what i was doing here.. it looks like i'm falling over whilst having a good time.. ??? i think i was just singing along with casie on a rockin' part ... ha ha... i'm so awkward.
and here's the last shot from leilani... so incredible! i'm sad you can't see anyone else, but my double chin is REALLY enjoying that spotlight ;D hard to get a good angle when you're up 5 feet above everyone....
leilani and josh came after they attended another party and they were dressed up like star wars characters! EVERYONE WAS FREAKING OUT - they looked SO ADORABLE. and of course, my baby daddy ADAMMMMM came :D i adore him more than i could ever say. it's always a hysterical time when we're together. i'm so glad i have these pictures of that night.... it really was one i'll never forget. so much love <3
after the gig, i drove adam home to sonora, and i was SO EXHAUSTED - i started throwing up whilst driving back down the hill to my place :/ BOOOOOOOOO. i was sick for a few days from the sheer energy, stress, and emotional toil i had been under! i got pretty sick, but was feeling good enough by our next gig to squeak some songs out!
next - we played The Dandelion Festival in Jackson. it was really fun. a day gig, on an outdoor stage, sweating our buns off.... playing for drunk dancers :D i mean... does it GET better?! it was really really fun :D
thanks to casie's daughter autumn for this shot! <3
here i am, sweaty but happy, after the gig- with casie and her daughters rihanna and autumn... who were both in the captain encouragement musical we wrote and performed last summer!
i love these girls so much. they're so sweet and kind and open and strong and funny... so SO funny... i love getting to see them.
and then a few days ago, we performed up in Murphys at a place called Outeraisle Catering and Venue. it's this sweet little restaurant with a gorgeous outdoor patio... and MAN! DID PEOPLE COME TO DANCE. i think they were out on the floor for EVERY SINGLE SONG! i was really exhausted after this one, too. those are the best gigs... where you just leave it ALL on the floor and drive home completely exhausted and wondering how you're ever going to do it again... but then wake up 4 hours later, excited to do it all again ;D
some of you know that i joined chains required because one of their singers, christy nava, was ready to move on to pursue other things in her country career. well........ CHRISTY FILLED IN FOR CASIE (who was in L.A. for the weekend with her kids). and MAN. i wish christy was still in the band, and we could just all do it, together!!! ha ha ha! what a heart and soul... absolutely one of the most gorgeous people i've met during my time in sonora <3 i am so happy we got to share such a special experience that night... performing together. it felt like we had been singing together for years, and i just can't wait to be with her again!
and there you have it! before i go - i would be very remiss if i didn't thank brian for letting me write this blog post at his house... my internet is down, and starbucks is a freaking zoo and i can never concentrate there.... so he has been letting me use him for his internet, the last week or so. and i really really really appreciate it, and would be out of a job without it!
so thank you, z :D <3
and there you have it! my first 3 months in chains required! i can't wait for more, and i truly hope that all of you get a chance to come see us, LIVE. the guys are insanely talented musicians, and it is such a rush and a joy to be singing in front of such an intensely happy wall of sound :D COME FIND US! <3
