 well, the day has arrived. the last day of august. the last day i can take care of unfinished items on my To-Do-Summer-Check-List.what a summer its been. i feel like the past 3 months has been like my 29th year. i packed about 5 years of living, happiness and experiences into the year before i turned 30... and now i feel like i packed about 5 summers into 3 months.this has equally been the worst, and best year of my life. and the picture to the left captures the "best" part absolutely accurately. for the last 2 years, my phone has barely rung. i wouldn't get a text for days or even weeks sometimes. i had totally cut myself off from the world. but this summer, i opened myself back up whole heartedly.Messages 425.that is from yesterday alone. i noticed it this morning on my way to breakfast. looking at it now, it says Messages 524 and it's 100% full.my phone looks like this every day now...going from zero outside world contact to full on social butterfly again, is a big change. but it was necessary this summer. i say social butterfly in the absolute mildest sense i can possibly elude. im not like i was in high school. im not even like i was in college. ive entered a new phase of balance. and its alarmingly calm. i keep waiting for my old self to rear its head, but i honestly think the bad parts of me are buried and gone. ive moved on from that mindset, that attitude, and that anger. i'm still me, but like, Shelly Happy 2.0... maybe even Shelly Bliss 2.5 :)my favorite quote has ALWAYS been "it's never too late to have a happy childhood", and i lived that this summer. everyone LOVES to say "live each day like its your last" and i have always hated that saying. its so pretentious, and like i was saying to gary the other night- "shuuuuuut up. don't say that unless you're ACTUALLY going to do something with your days. no one wants to hear that from you when we know you spent all day on the couch in your underwear eating cheetos. its so pretentious."but this summer, i really did live most of my days like that. i would have been satisfied with 90% of them being my last day on earth. i did so much, and saw so much and shared so much and loved SO so so so much... im not sure i've ever been so mentally and emotionally present. i know what it feels like to squeeze every moment of joy out of something, until you're just absolutely exhausted. and i feel confident that if i were to die tonight, (with the exception of leaving behind a messy room and bathroom) i would be fine with that.i started this summer praying to God every single night- that He wouldn't let me wake up. and in 3 short months, i have mended my heart and my head, and found a focus i've never had before. and as i pack my bags for nashville to check off the VERY last thing on my summer check list (albeit it will be completed 2 weeks late- it WILL be completed...) i am filled with a very, VERY interesting realization. this is my life now. it's not about to happen, it's not over... it's happening. right this second. im not going to be something when i grow up- i AM what i am now as a grown up. i don't have to picture my life in the future because it will happen JUST AS ITS SUPPOSED to, regardless. for the past 10 years i have felt absolutely awful and worthless because i have never been able to picture my future. guess what? i still can't. i used to think it's because i was going to die young, or because i just hadn't met the right person that i could picture my future with. well, that future came and went. i pictured it, it was amazing, and then it was gone. and now i'm back to not being able to see past today. and i have FINALLY figured out- that there doesn't have to be an answer for that. maybe that's because my path just isn't written. maybe i am one of those people who doesn't have a destiny. there's lot of options for me, and i can choose whichever one i want. well- i want all of them. i want all the options blended into one. and that is just something the imagination cannot picture. so im left with a blank canvas. because maybe- just maybe- i will exceed my own destiny. so the picture hasn't been drawn for me to see yet.messages 425. and every last one of them ended with "i love you".i can't IMAGINE a better spring board to the future.SUMMER CHECK LIST (*click here to check it out*)i completed everything on the list but 2 things. one will be completed within 2 weeks, and the other... well... i guess it will be completed when i finally find it. SO! I just spent an hour and a half retelling every single detail of the audition process, perfectly crafting the emotional journey i went on this summer, and giving all my new friends and partnerships shout outs and encouragements.
and then safari crashed and erased it ALL.
i will take that as hint number 50,0022lsd that i need to stop with every single little thought and emotion i have, and just hit the highlights.
so here's the highlights.
may- was asked to participate in Valley's Got Talent talent show
june- rehearsed for "joseph and the amazing technicolor dream coat" and auditioned at Valley's Got Talent callbacks with my original song "the way you love me".
july- performed "joseph" and started press for Valley's Got Talent
august- decided to change my song from "the way you love me" to "give me love", rehearsed like a FIEND.
this last week-
tuesday sound check: had ZERO voice. but had MAJOR fun. got to hug lindsay & aaron <3
thursday dress rehearsal: realized how many AMAZING performers were in the show- aka-every last one of them...
friday first show: thought i did pretty good, watched the video back, wanted to kill a panda bear, knew from the second she opened her mouth that frankie would win.
saturday last performance: changed it up, did MUCH better, and soaked up every second of happiness. frankie won the grand prize, and justin won our category!
today: my pic appeared on the front page of the paper... no clue why they chose me when frankie won. lol!
WHAT. A. JOURNEY.
here are some pictures of last night <3 thank you to EVERYONE in the show for being amazing and so supportive and kind... and for the judges for making us all feel like a jillion and a half bucks. some of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me or about me, were said last night. it filled my heart, boosted my confidence, and humbled me in a way i've never been humbled before.
once we all met thursday night, none of it felt like a contest... it felt more like a gorgeous display case of mutual admiration ;) i can't WAIT to hang out with all the new friends i made, and work on all the new projects we've dreamed up together.
i am so excited and hopeful for what the future holds, im not sure i'll ever sleep again <3

ended up being my 365 picture today again, by no fault of her own ;)
her sisters tried to steal the show though, and they definitely stole the picture.
we were going to do a "lolita" shoot, with dirty feet, and her licking a popsicle stick.
well, the more i thought about it, the more the popsicle stick just became unseemly,
(even though we were simply going to reenact this moment out of the most recent Lolita movie...)
and i honestly didn't feel like setting up a bunch of props...
so we decided to meet at the park,
and i brought taffy instead of popsicles, and a blanket. it was a GOOD THING i brought the blanket,
because someone was OBVIOUSLY murdered on this bench last night...
vomit.
at any rate, after properly dirtifying up her feet, we snapped the first set of pictures. (*click photos to enlarge) i think they're prettier than the actual movie still.
then, her sisters wanted some taffy too. obviously i gave them as much as they wanted
(they're not MY kids...) and then i had them jump in the photos.
they turned out amazing :)

not at all. i just expect to be treated with a certain amount of respect. and if people can't muster that, i can't muster enough energy to care about them anymore- and why would i? if you can't treat me right, you don't deserve my attention, no matter who the hell you think you are. the best way to get respect is to give it. if you can't do that- don't EVER expect to get it. and if you've ever treated someone like that- you owe them an apology. but don't expect them to hear it. you had your chance... when they were waiting around all day for you. and you chose to be a jerk instead. you don't DESERVE second third and fourth chances when you don't respect someone the FIRST time around.

ohhhhhh yes. in the dead of summer, we went to savannah to pick up some friends one time, when i was living in nashville. LAWD have mercy. with the exception of miami- hottest place i've ever been.
What irritates you most on the internet?
not knowing if people are being truthful. misinterpreting tone because of typing... lots of things. im not big on just typing online. i like to see a person's face when i'm talking to them, or at least hear their voice. bad things happen when someone won't let you see their face. i'm always skeptical of that. if you can't look me in the eye- you have something to hide. and ive been through that before, and will not go through it again. look me in the eye. or don't expect to talk to me.
What brand is your digital camera?
well, i USED to have an awesome digital camera, altho the brand is escaping my memory right now. but alas, someone else is now enjoying my amazing camera, as well as all the pictures of bug and me from her trip here :( why do people steal?

only REALLY appropriate ones. i DIE inside when im watching something with them and someone starts having sex, or curses. DIE. die die die inside.

i do. i'm almost out, but the best perfume i own is called "lost" by evelyn and crabtree. its been discontinued for about 2 years, and i bought it at their store in York, england. its the best smelling perfume i've ever smelled. every time i wear it people freak out. and its no more :( if you could somehow find me some- i'd never leave your side.

i am! im taking french and a few others, which i will share soon :) its amazing. livin' the dream <3
Do you like sushi?
not really anymore. i used to love it, but now it really grosses me out. veggie sushi, obviously. its something about the salty seaweed taste that just turns my stomach :( i wish it wasn't so, but alas, it's so.

absolutely not. i haven't gotten my hair cut in 3 years by anyone other than myself.
