so there it is.
im going to buy a boat.
before next summer, i will be the proud owner of a glastron 2004 speed boat or 1994 ski boat.
i started my boat fund, and picked out my boat today.
its amazing what you can buy a boat for if you look in the right places...
its amazing what happens when the timing is right...
boat check list:
boat and trailer.
insurance.
life jackets.
license.
im giving myself an entire year to do this.
by june 1, 2012 - i will be a boat owner.
and that is just so exciting :)
1994 model

UPDATE: Tuesday, June 14, 2011
so, i'm not married to the year of the models above, anymore. but the more i research glastrons, the more i am ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that this is the make for me. they're small and unassuming, and i REALLY like the vintage ones. did i mention i want one that i can fix up myself? well, that's the idea. i almost bought one from 1977 today for $150.00 TRAILER INCLUDED. but it needed just a little too much work... and i don't know that much yet. i dont want it sitting around for a year rotting and collecting dust while i learn about boats. i want to do my research first, and THEN make an informed decision, not an impulse buy. that is new for me ;)
at any rate... im still SO excited. i wake up every night thinking about buying my boat and all i'm going to do with it... all the adventures... i just cannot WAIT to make this happen. i hope i'm able to get it before next june :)
i just feel like i can't wait!!!
also- i bought life vests!!!!!!!
i'm thinkin' about painting my boat orange and white... so it matches the life vests ;)
not really. i just think that will be pretty. BUT who knows. who knows what i'll do once i actually have it :)
i can't wait to have my boat launch partay :) omg. AH! IM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!
UPDATE: Sunday, June 19, 2011
i was just searching ebay for my boat (as i do daily... ok hourly), and found this boat for $1,200!!!!!!
its in almost PERFECT condition and it looks EXACTLY like what i want!
im seriously, SERIOUSLY considering buying it RIGHT NOW.
only draw back? its in KENTUCKY and i'd have to go get it, and i'm committed here until the end of july.
anybody up for a kentucky road trip in august?! :)
UPDATE: Monday, June 20, 2011
i just got off the phone with klaus at geico, who i swear, was ready to move here and marry me.
nicest guy i've EVER talked to on the phone, and he flirted with me big time, which is just good business.
i was ready to buy insurance right this second, for a boat i don't even own yet ;)
welllllll... my genius idea of buying a super vintage boat isn't that great apparently.
klaus informed me with no qualms, that i absolutely do NOT want to own a boat that's older than 20 years.
after i explained i was a first time buyer, owner, and operator, he changed his story a LITTLE, but not much.
he said it would probably be a good boat to learn on, but without doubt i would want to try it on the water before i purchased it... which... if i buy this boat from kentucky, just won't be possible. it's only on sale for 18 more days, and im SURE someone is going to snap it up before then. its an amazing price for a boat thats in almost PERFECT condition.
here's what im looking at for rates on this particular make and model of boat.
1975 Glastron 16" Ski/Fishing Boat, with 135 HP Mercury motor
coverage plan: liability.
-that will cover any accident i have with the boat
-to pay for other damage to person or property up to $10,000
- to pay for coverage of guests (non-family) on my boat in case of injury for up to $10,000
annual insurance cost: $125.00 (paid once yearly)
i need to get:
serial number for outboard:
hin # (aka- vessel id number or vin number)
klaus at geico
1-800-225-6560
i really can't believe i'm on my way to buying a boat.
i love it when a plan comes together ;)
